Trained Mentors with Lived Experience
Rising Angels was founded by Katarina MacLeod, a survivor of 15 years of commercial sexual exploitation. Katarina and our team of mentors have been trained by her, ensuring that everyone who supports you truly understands the complexity and depth of trauma caused by sexual exploitation. We don’t just offer guidance—we offer support from people who have lived through the same struggles. Our mentors know what it’s like to feel trapped and hopeless, and they have the tools and experience to help you move forward, free of judgment and with the knowledge that you’re not alone.

What We Do to Help
At Rising Angels, our mission is to provide emotional support, peer mentoring, and life skills development to those recovering from sexual exploitation. We offer a safe, supportive environment where you can take the first steps toward rebuilding your life. Whether it’s helping you process emotions, offering crisis intervention in times of need, or teaching practical life skills, we are committed to walking beside you through every challenge. We focus on stabilization as the essential first step, allowing you to regain a sense of control and stability before embarking on the path to deeper healing.

How do you become a mentee with Rising Angels?
1. First contact is usually via email at info@risingangels.net. That contact might be by police, an organization, a parent, another front-line worker or yourself who reaches out.
2. Rising Angels will have a phone call with whoever reached out and find out a bit of background information e.g.; name, age and a little about your story.
3. Katarina will provide her phone number so that she can personally speak with the woman who is needing support. Katarina will then do an intake with her which consists of questions such as : When were you sexually exploited? For how long? When did you get out? Do you have children? We’re looking to find out about your story and the traumas that you are struggling with, so we can then decide how we can best support you in your healing journey.
4. That support might be through mentorship, life coaching, trauma informed counselling, or other resources.
5. From there, you will have access to speak to either Lisa (a mentor) or Katarina (Executive Director) when you need support. As well, they will set up times to call you and offer help, as they realize sometimes its not easy to reach out.
6. Rising Angels will help you overcome your trauma, offer you life skills and you will have an opportunity to join support groups we run for survivors.
